My First Harvest
The garden needed some overdue tending so yesterday we used our slave labor to help us weed it, thin it, and water it. My slave labor was Daniel's cousin's kids. Three of them to be exact. Even with their help, Daniel and I both were knee deep in dirt, bugs, and weeds. The garden really needed some work.
Two sweat dripping hours later, my garden had almost no weeds, the dead plants thinned out, and all the vines moved to more appropriate locals so that the others plants don't get pissed off. In the process, I found 3 cucumbers ready for picking and about half a pound of peas. That is on top of the jalapeno peppers picked Friday by Mondo for testing.
After we were all done, we snapped open some peas and snacked on them. I can't even tell you the immense pleasure I had being able to eat something from my own garden and have it taste so delicious. Even after a great 4th of July party, this made my weekend!
We'll have corn in about a month or so and my tomatoes are THIS close to being ready to be picked. We have three heads of cabbage that should be ready in a few weeks too. I am just so happy we were able to make it work!
I'll have some fabulous photos and stories from our 4th party we threw! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I remember picking my first tomato...it was so good! There's nothing like eating something you have grown yourself.
